Wattle You Waiting For?....

 

Wattles are the round, dangly, flesh like circles that dangle from all chickens' chins. As a general rule, rooster wattles are larger in size than hen wattles of the same breed. Wattles have many purposes, besides for showing off. Chickens will dip their wattles in cool water to cool their body temperature, and hold their wattles under their feathers to warm up. Wattles come in several colours and many textures, each breed has its own standard. Most chickens find it calming to have their wattles rubbed!
